It is no secret that I love to sew with Tilda fabric – and Tilda Old Rose fabric is no exception…
Tilda fabric is known for its classic charm and character, and I love how the gorgeous colours are a modern interpretation of a traditional palette. Mixing the old and the new is something that always inspires me!

When deciding what to make with this collection I realised that it was the lavender and lilac colours that I was really drawn to! Their slight variation in hue gave the collection an interest and vibrance that you don’t always find in a collection.
As a general rule I don’t consider myself a lover of purple, and yet, as I have said in the past, Tilda fabric makes me rethink my position on that matter ;).
I chose to make my South Bank Spin pattern because it is perfectly suited to fabric that can be divided into 2 strong colourways, and it gave me an opportunity to highlight the gorgeous tones in the Tild Old Rose fabric.
I divided the collection into lilac, lavender and purple hues for the pinwheel blocks and red, aqua and grey for the circle blocks. And because the blocks alternate, it gives the quilt a lovely balanced feel to the overall design.
Finishing the Quilt
This quilt was a quick make that looks more difficult than it really is! If you follow the pattern instructions, the blocks nest neatly together and it is quite simple to make all the intersections align – which is a big thumbs up for me.
For this particular quilt I made less blocks than the pattern calls for, and chose to make a slightly smaller square quilt.
I kept the quilting really simple and stitched a diagonal grid that highlighted the cornerstones, and allowed the fabric to take centre stage.
