Welcome! Today it’s my stop on the Zakka Home book tour.
Zakka Home is the latest book from Sedef Imer of Down Grapevine Lane and Tuva Publishing.
It’s full of wonderful projects to make for your home. The projects are perfect for beginner sewists and can be made in an afternoon or two.
But, What is ‘Zakka’?
According to Sedef, ‘zakka is a Japanese design aesthetic that combines usefulness with beauty’. And with that in mind, the book showcases a variety of practical projects designed to add a touch of handmade to your home.
As makers and creatives the concept of zakka is something I think we can all appreciate. At its heart an item is considered zakka if it brings you joy.
When first flipping through the pages of the book, I knew immediately that I wanted to make the Scallop Trivet.
When I am in the studio I always have a drink floating around in need of a coaster of some sort. The trivet would be both practical and pretty, which seemed like zakka perfection!!
In fact, I loved the idea of it so much that I made two :).
Zakka Home Book Review
This book is ideal for those who are weekend makers, or those who like to make quick projects to refuel their creativity. It is full of practical ideas for handmade gifts and creative ways to add a touch of handmade to your own home.
The photography throughout the book is beautiful in true Sedef style. And the layout is clean and easy to read and navigate.

The Book Tour Continues
What are the things in your life that are practical, pretty and bring you joy?
I hope you get a chance to create some joy with fabric and thread today :).
I really like the colours you have used for your trivets, I find them much prettier than the one in the book. Just showing projects done in a variety of fabrics is so inspirational and it really broadens your ideas and the appeal of the design. x
